Patternfish - City Cables by Chris Bylsma

City Cables Designed by Chris Bylsma Available at Patternfish Knit in Venezia Worsted (70% Merino Wool/30% Mulberry Silk) - 6-8 sks Sizes - S - 2X (34-44") "This is a classic, close-fitting sweater," says Bylsma. "The cables and ribbing make it very flexible and adaptable so don’t overestimate your size. Use your under bust measurement and shoulder width for reference. All sizes have nine cables on the front and back and vary simply in the number and width of side ribs. Make the sweater longer and add a belt. Make it even longer to wear as a tunic or dress. Find your own style and enjoy!" Very elegant, very sinuous, very chic.

60 Quick Baby Knits Preview - Sheep Hat by Renee Lorion

Sheep Hat (Pattern #2) Designed by Renee Lorion Published in 60 Quick Baby Knits - Blankets, Booties, Sweaters & More in 220 Superwash Knit in 220 Superwash - shown in 910A (Winter White), 906 (Chartreuse) & 862 (Walnut Heather) Size - 6-12 months This adorable sheep hat is a preview of one of the 60 projects from the new book that just arrived in our warehouse last week (we love it when something comes in before it is expected).  I wish this had larger sizing - since it would be adorable for preschoolers (probably about another 12 stitches cast on would do it).  Look for 60 Quick Baby Knits in your favorite LYS!

Stitches West Fashion Show Part 1 - The Afghans!

Stitches West 2011 Fashion Show - Part 1 I always enjoy going to Stitches - I have been at the Cascade Yarns booth for a few years now (Cascade has been a sponsor for years).  Stitches West is always crazy - but in a good way - lots of excited knitters and beautiful projects.   I was particularly excited about this Stitches West since both The Great North American Afghan and The Great American Kid's Afghan were being re-released after being reknit in our yarns.  Each new afghan offers color options for 3 different yarns.  To add to my excitement - both afghans concluded the fashion show. The new books premiered at Stitches West, but should be starting to arrive at your LYS.  The North American Afghan is shown in Cascade 220 and has additional colorways suggested for Lana d'Oro and Sierra.  The original colorway (from the first addition) was also listed in Cascade 220. It was fun talking to some of the XRX staff (including Rick and Karen) and listening to them talk ab

On The Needles - Eco Cloud

Eco Cloud on the Needles I absolutely love playing with yarn and with stitch patterns.  Frankly, I don't get enough time to do this.  I've been on the road this week - which means I get time to knit. We have a new yarn that I got to swatch before we ordered it but have not have a chance to get back to since.   Eco Cloud - it is a heavenly blend of undyed merino wool and undyed baby alpaca with a crocheted tubular construction.  There is a great deal of spring to this yarn when you knit it and it has fabulous stitch definition.  Did I mention it is soft and squishy? There are 10 natural colors - I chose color 1810 because I love heathered greys. I decided it would be fun to create a cowl since it would feel wonderfully against my neck (and frankly everytime I know I am going to Pittsburgh in February I am inspired to make something that will keep me warm).  Since I wanted something that wouldn't take away from the airiness of the yarn and would look interesting,  I
